Having lived in NYC for 5+ years now, it’s not often that I explore places that are totally new to me. Sure, there are new restaurants, museum exhibits, and plays to check out, but as far as neighborhoods go, I pretty much stick to what I know.
I often run in the morning and usually stay on tried and true Central Park paths, but this morning I went in the opposite direction and headed north along the East River, finding my way to Randall’s Island, a tiny island situated between Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx. It’s not undiscovered by any means (there are lots of sports and recreation facilities), but it was nice to explore a new place for me this morning. I snapped this picture on my iPhone while running over.
